A Great Bridal Shower Gift!
So, just recently, I went to my last wedding for 2010. The next wedding I go to will be my own. Yikes! Anywho, I went to 3 bridal showers, 4 bachelorette parties, and 5 weddings in 2010, and almost every bride got my favorite book as part of their gift for some part of their wedding season: Intercourses, An Aphrodisiac Cookbook by Martha Hopkins and Randall Lockridge. It is a beautiful cookbook with yummy recipes and tastefully, seductive photos. What is the best thing about this book is the bride’s reaction when she opens this in front of family and friends. It is usually a mix of embarrassed horror followed by laughing, as the bride realizes that this is not that naughty a book, just a book with a naughty title. This provides entertainment for the guests, but nothing too scandalous (undergarments are always good for scandal, but those are sometimes hard to shop for and maybe not the best choice if you’re not sure whether or not grandma will be there). Anywho, alone, the book is a great little present, and paired with a substantial gift certificate for the bride’s favorite market or grocery store, this can be an excellent, bigger wedding gift. No, it’s probably not off the registry, but come on! Everyone needs a fun surprise every now and then, and everyone’s gotta eat!
