Average Cost of US Wedding at $27,021

I meant to share about this article awhile ago but no one likes to hear that costs are rising. :P Of course, the average cost of weddings for metropolitan areas tend to be higher than the national average, but the big takeaway is, the average cost of a US wedding has increased to $27,021. That shows that not only are wedding costs rising, but wedding couples are willing to pay more. Yikes! And most couples (about 75%) financially contribute to their wedding so that means couples will need to plan way ahead and save way ahead.

Manhattan not surprisingly had the highest average at $65,824 while West Virginia had the lowest average at $14,203.

If you were able to keep your wedding costs below national average, you deserve a metal because every bride knows that it’s hard to keep costs down.

  1. That sounds absolutely correct. We spent around 25k in 2010.

  2. 75% of couples contribute to their own wedding? Wow, I didn’t know that. It seems to be the norm that the bride’s parents have to foot this bill.

And my wife definitely deserves a metal big time! We did our wedding (granted, this was in 1997, and we live in NW Minnesota) between $2k-$3K. And her parents helped out with most of it.
    Great information!
