So I’m not sure if this is a recent phenomenon or not, but I noticed that some couples have joint email addresses when they plan their wedding. And most continue to use it after the wedding. Scott and I share everything and we have joint bank accounts, but I can’t imagine sharing email addresses.   Not sure why, but I feel like it’s too personal to share. And it’s confusing when I email that account because I’m not sure whom I’m talking to. And I guess it doesn’t matter but I just don’t understand the reasoning behind it.

Photos last forever, especially wedding photos. Here are some good tips from Daily Candy on positioning your body and face to look your best. The way someone stands or poses in front of a camera evokes different emotions. Some poses will show the bride as relaxed, excited, bored, etc.  By the way, some of these tips in the video clip are the same tips on how to look skinniest in photos. :O)

It was hard for me to find the perfect picture, but even in a dresses with a-line or princess silhouettes will look different by the way you pose. If you’re looking for out of the norm pose ideas, check out on the bride and bride and groom poses. Your photographer can give you ideas on the day of your wedding.

I came across this dad’s story about how his little girl and her boyfriend loved each other so much. Your heart will melt when you read about the little boy making invitations to their wedding. So cute!!  I don’t know which is cuter….the love story between the two kids, or the way the dad adores his little girl. In either case, it’s a good read.

Scott and I were college sweethearts, but part of me feels like we were little kids because it felt like puppy love. And on our wedding day, I remember that I felt like little kids dressing up to make-believe a wedding. Maybe it’s just that simple….boy meets girl, girl likes boy back. Adults tend to make things more complicated. :O)

I think everyone has something that they realized that they didn’t need to put on their registry. I’ve heard items like, too many towels, or kitchen appliances that were never used. I’m proud to say that we use all the items on our registry…..but one. It’s a juicer that we got from Crate and Barrel. It’s not electric and it looked cool. I figured, since we didn’t plan on juicing often, it was okay to get the manual juicer. I tried using it, but you need to be Superman to get enough juice out of 3 oranges for one small cup of orange juice. Cleaning it was a bit of a pain, too. What do we do with it now? It’s shelf-ware….just looking pretty. But I could have lived without it. I hope the person who got it for me is not reading this post. haha.

Heading to Costco anytime soon?

I think it’s funny that I got this question from a guy because I think the underlying question is, “what the heck do women do at these events?”  But I’ve heard this question from women, too so it’s not a silly question. A “shower” is hosted by anyone and it’s not limited to the MOH or bridesmaids. It is a party that is hosted in honor of a guest, and therefore, a bride cannot throw her own shower (I’ve heard stories before). Hosting your own shower (bridal or baby shower) is like asking for gifts, which comes across as very tacky.  However, it is acceptable for a bride to ask her MOH, or any bridesmaid, to host a bridal shower. However, the bridesmaids are not obligated to throw a shower.

A bachelorette party is usually limited to closer friends whom the bride can act stupid in front of without any judgment. Sometimes the bridal shower and bachelorette party will be combined into the same day, especially if the guests will be the same at both. Of course, there are no rules for either one and you can do whatever you want to do. And to the disappointment of brides, a bridal shower and bachelorette party are not required to get married. The wedding can still continue without either one. Sorry, ladies.

Our last major snow storm also was on a weekend (December 19, 2009), so inevitably there were issues with people’s wedding plans that weekend too. Here’s some tips on dealing with a snowed out wedding:

• As long as you, your future spouse and a marriage celebrant can all be present together, you can still get married!
• Be okay with many guests canceling at the last minute.
• Be flexible! A bride in Philly was able to move her reception to a hotel restaurant since her guest count dropped to 70.  Her story of her white, snowy, wedding that took two years to plan and four hours to re-plan is really inspiring!
• Stream it! One couple decided to do their ceremony while their guests watched it via a webcast.  They rescheduled their reception for 3 months later.
• Be the snow plow! Since the roads hadn’t been plowed, one groom got some Hummer limos at the last minute to pick up their guests!
• Be charitable. Some of these brides celebrated their wedding with just a third of their guests, and donated the leftover food to a local shelter.

If the weather puts a damper on your wedding plans, put on a positive face – it’s still your big day! Enjoy it! And maybe even go make a bride and groom snowman .
